I also suggest the use of a bookmark posting/sharing service like Delicious or Magnolia (which I prefer). These allow you to not only decentralize you fave links but discover what other people are linking to as well.

I haven't tried Facebook, but I hear lots of good things about it. I might consider it, except I have 3,427 other sites to update. : )

I agree with Char -- I actually don't use RSS at all, except for one or two videoblogs I subscribe to in iTunes (egad). Everything else, I do manually. I'm not sure if it's more personal or just more easily differentiated in my head, but I enjoy seeing each element in its native environment, rather than strained through mine.

One tool you might want to include in your toolbox is a wiki. Sites like PBWiki make it extremely easy to host a publicly-editable website where everyone can join the conversation -- a la Wikipedia.

Oh, and it's interesting you mention this topic today, as we in Pittsburgh have just announced BootCamp PGH, a one-day, "bare basics" introduction to new media for the folks who feel PodCamp is speaking just a little over their heads. You missed the name of Tim Knight's band: +nurse. But they only have one show left, then they are breaking up. :(
Also, I really enjoy facebook. It's a great way to find people you've lost track of, you can upload pictures, "notes" (essentially a blog), you can update on your status (somewhat twitter-esque only less of a conversation thing) and gives some biographical info and you can join groups and post for events and "share" things like videos and links and stuff. I never got into the whole myspace thing and now I realise it's because facebook is what myspace should have been. The only thing they're missing is music.
I know that I should use an RSS reader, but I kinda like going to people's sites. It feels more personal somehow. It does make things a wee bit more timeconsuming though.
