Really help someone in needy is very soothing to the hearth, I really salute these organisations those who donate the money and shelter availability to the needy people and also try to provide education too.

This is a great idea, everyone should do it.

But it's not new. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (the Mormons) have been doing it for many years. The first Sunday of every month they do a 24 hour fast, and donate the money they would have spent on food. It's called a "Fast Offering". Then that money is used to help those in need in the local congregations and for humanitarian needs around the world.

I think this is a wonderful use of social media and an all around great idea. I think that what Skip1 needs to do to really make this initiative known is to make a video with more viral potential. As a public relations student, I can see Skip1 really taking off with the right PR help from some interns looking to get some non-profit experience.

Great idea! I just donated. Reminds me of ModestNeeds.org. This is where social media really shines. When communities of people band together and make small waves with big ripples.

Chris you rock! In Haiti, I saw for myself how little it takes to feed a child. I also saw things that I can't describe. But they can get better. Your effort to spread the simple message of Skip1 goes way beyond day-to-day business. You get it. We all see it. Kids are getting fed right now thanks to this one simple blog post. (BTW Drew, Shelene, Blake and the gang rock too!)

How could you ask such a thing as "if it makes sense?" in your blog post :). I hope loads of people get behind this initiative. I feel very aware that I don't pay a lot of attention towards these types of initiatives sometimes and yet I feel compelled towards helping where I can in every day life :).

Giving out a free snack once in a while does deal with the problem of getting people out of poverty by helping them earn alittle more money or grow their own food - free handouts have proven not to work but are useful post disaster eg flood/hurricane.

skip1.org is a great way to notice that you can give up certain things and donate that money to help out children in need. The only problem for me is that I am skipping certain things because I need to cut back on my finances.
So, as soon as I get my finances up to par I will be more than happy to skip for these children.
I actually wrote an article about skip1.org (along with InvisiblePeople) on my blog after I watched a video from Chris's Overnight Success series.
