If I Were a Realtor
Last semester, my students recreated a monopoly games to understand the retail marketing issues and available solutions. The goal was to keep playing the game better and together with team.
This semester, one of my classes will have to recreate the LIFE game. The game is about personal and professional life and consequences of choices made - there is no going back.
All play the game, but it is enlightening to see on a gameboard the choices you make may reveal you to be the villain. Suck it up and play the game.
I try hard never to suck it up. Always seems counter-intuitive. : )
Anyway, I think wanting to win can sometimes be a huge problem. We all know *those* people on Twitter, Facebook, etc, who don't really seem to be enjoying themselves, but doing something because they think they have to. What's the point?
It's not about winning. Success, in my humble opinion, lies in not being afraid to lose.
I know we have to adjust course on a regular basis
trial and error
open communication
not only about balance
but also about fears/insecurities etc
after all
the family at home can seem a little intimidated compared to the rock star lives of the event hoppers.
I know i cycle through that myself
but because i have a good team mate who communicates well
we succeed
we play the game very well
and yes
being a family is a game
if it wasn't
how lame !
and i agree with bring home presents!
LOTS of presents!
even if you buy them on the way home at Target
cause i'll tell ya
for a lot of us
presents are exciting and fun
a great way to come back into the mix is to make your teammates exited and fun!
as monetary as it is
i couldn't bounce between so many types of games
i barely get the rules of this one :)
all this to say
i hope the rest of the family bases out there are faring well
and i hope you get LOTS of presents
I read blogs like yours Chris because I feel I'm learning a lot about people and social networks and the like. Kind of like the more plays you know in football, the better you'll play the game, rather than just winging it.
Thanks for the daily playbook Chris!
