Chris Brogan: New Must-Haves for Marketing and PR Pros

  • Deirdre · 5 months ago
Hi Chris, thank you very much for the great review of Putting the Public Back in Public Relations. You nailed it! That's exactly what we were trying to convey in our book! So happy you liked it! The PR industry certainly has taken it's lumps. We wanted to create a book that helped to set new guidelines for PR and communications professionals.

Also sounds like The New Community Rules is an awesome book. I will definitely check it out! Thanks for sharing :)

    Chris,

What is your preferred method of consuming books, pardon if you have already addressed this somewhere else in your blog but I couldn't find it.

Are you a fast reader or do you use a special speed reading technique, listen to the audio book in fast mode, etc.

Also I notice you use evernote, do you create, document and upload your notes, if you take any, to evernote for future reference?

Thanks and see you at podcamp.

    Hi Chris,

    Thanks for this interesting review.

I've read 'Putting the Public...' and entirely agree with your review - for many, this book is playing a genuinely instrumental role in bridging the gap from 'old PR' to 'new PR'.

Haven't read 'The New Community Rules...' - grabbing my copy now.

    Thanks,

    Emily

Chris, Thanks for the heads up. There are so many books out there already, and new ones coming out almost as fast as Tweets. It's good to get advice from someone who keeps up with the trends as much as you do. Meanwhile, as someone who works in PR related field, it's surely true that the game has changed dramatically, and many people still need to wake up realize this whether they want to or not.

Wondering how you feel Solis' book differs from David Meerman Scott's New Rules for Marketing and PR, presuming you have read both.

On another note, you made a point of noting in text about the Amazon links -- it that part of Blog etiquette?

Thanks for the review. Deirdre's not only an astute student/writer/teacher, she's also just a remarkable person. She'll be a guest on the Social Media Professor blogtalkradio.com program on August 11, 2009 from 11:30am to 12:00pm EST.

I'm excited. There are so few books *for* PR pros, as most are for individuals doing their own marketing or PR. I'll be reading these, along with Trust Agents.

If I have to choose only one and only on marketing (not PR) subject, which one should I choose?

Every time I visit your blog, I find new resources to add to my tool box. The social media realm is new to me and there's always something good here for us to take away. Thanks! You're inspiring our own soon-to-be-launched blog!

    Chris,
I am trying to select Brian book to buy from Amazon. I am trying to give you credit for the sale, but when I click the link, it takes me to an empty cart, or takes me to the Kindle page. I just want the book, in my cart, with your affiliate link. Is that too much to ask? Not sure if it's my account handling it wrong, or the link is bad, but you may want to check it out.

I really enjoyed The New Community Rules: Marketing on the Social Web book. Probably, you won't find no better book than this digital marketing reference title. I recommend for everyone who wants to get inside the web 2.0 world. I really love it..
