Site Explorer and realized that I could pluck from it the 50 most linked to posts on my site without a lot of heavy lifting."

Really? To do this correctly with Yahoo, I think you need to take each individual URL for every single blog article and then put each URL into Yahoo one at a time and see what the results are. Is that what you did? You probably have 100+ articles, you put each URL into Yahoo one at a time? Wow. You have much more tolerance for heavy lifting than I do!

Re: My 50 Most Linked To Posts

Hi Chris

I'm fairly new to your blog, thanks to Jack Humphrey. Perhaps b/c it's to the point and people know what they are getting in terms of numbered or bulleted blog, which is perhaps easier to read and for scanning over purposes.
Good job!

Re: My 50 Most Linked To Posts

@Beth I think the concept of breaking apart the posts based on those categories are good; with the blogger using their own personal knowledge of the posts. For example some of my posts with high comments indicate great conversations while I have a classic post that if an outsider looked at sheer numbers of comments would think it must be good.

Similar not all posts with high twittering necessarily indicate great posts.

Still not totally convinced on high page views - especially when trying to analyzing posts from different dates.

Re: My 50 Most Linked To Posts

I did a review of this based on the metrics provided by postrank - in its widget which is some combination of most linked, comments, bookmarked, diggs, and twittered -

http://beth.typepad.com/bet...

Some debate as to what is the number one metric to use for value of the blog. I really like the idea (I'd done it manually via delicious a few times - uhg), and I couldn't get Yahoo to jump through the hoops. It either shows pages (I know these already ;-) or Inlinks. Sorry if it's obvious.

Re: My 50 Most Linked To Posts

Chris, as you've said in another post, people like blogs with numbers in the title. Linking may a bit different. I think there are alot of blogs out there just reblogging others' content. A 5-ways or Top Ten list is always a good one. Personally I prefer numbers with $ before the number or % after it. I'm a whore for solid facts and figures. I can write content on conclusions I draw from the data pretty quickly. My most linked to blog (about marketing for a movie) mentioned Kate Beckinsale something like 10 times. I purposely overused her name, and linked each mention to a fabulous picture (as if there are any that aren't) of the actress. My suspicions were correct, it got alot of activity and linking.
I'm trying new strategies for my new site, some based on your suggestions, some I've conjured with my own twisted mind.
