Please, help me understand one point with my LinkedIn profile.

LinkedIn proposes me “Improve your profile”. And suggests to fill “What’s your current position?”

At the moment I study at DBA(Doctor of Business Administration) program. What is the best way to reflect that fact – in “current position” or in “education”?

And what to write?

When connecting with people with whom the connection would best be described as "Other," but you don't have their email (such as between you and me), what do you recommend doing? Is it strange to select friend, as that option doesn't require any further explanation to LinkedIn?

Hello Chris. I read this as a link from Stella Anokam's current post on LinkedIn. A few hours ago I didn't understand the value of LinkedIn and had no idea how to use it. Now I see I have get to work on my profile and other content - thanks for your outlines. I went to your Q&A and saw your current status as traveling this week. It's an interesting juxtaposition - reading something 3 years old with an overlay of an update 17 seconds ago. Thanks. Julia

I know you wrote this article a few years ago. However, it is still very relevant (which is awesome) and I have shared it with my LinkedIn network as well as the Directors at my firm. I believe that you have to keep your professional brand fresh while still maintaining your message. But as quickly as things change, our profiles can get old and stoggy. Let's keep em guessing I say.

I think your piece has some pretty good advice, especially this one "Write to be Read". In my experience 95% of the business stuff I read does not follow this simple rule.

The first horror show I see when reading other people’s LinkedIn profiles is that they’re written completely dry, as if robots are the only thing that will read them.

linkedin is "the" best site for business networking, ive used many and have to say linkedin still tops them all. The power on linkedin is your connections, you need to have a lot and good strong connections that you talk to regulary, i would reccommend http://www.linkedinemails.com for building good connections. Has anyone else heard or used them before?

A nice article to guiding 'How to use Linkedin" However, I feel that the although profile should not be robotic a lot of things around What I do or What I can do, make it feels like an advertisement. A, subtle profile with clearly mentioning the objective will be more use (its my personal view).

What's your view about the settings for your visibility on "Who's viewed my profile"?
I have it set to reveal my identity, since I find it quite frustrating to see I've been visited but not know by whom.

I would add to consider adding keywords to your titles and descriptions whereever possible and including your website links. Also creating a unique linkedin ID (vs having one with lots of numbers (the default).
