Great post as usual. Reminds us all to stick to our mission statement, and make that statement more visible in the site content/presentation.

This is so important and is so often an after thought. After launching my site, I noticed that people were missing some of the key features. We analyzed user behavior, web analytics and solidified our goals. We're hoping our next release will guide our users better!

    Chris, your timing is impeccable.

After blogging for two years, I just created a starting page instructing readers what to expect, why they should subscribe and what to do next.

Result? More readers, more subscribers and more interaction with readers, especially new ones. D'oh! What took me so long? :-)

Thanks for sharing your ideas and keep up the remarkable work!

I read a lot of blogs and I'm always surprised at how many don't have something like "Recent posts", or links to previous relevant posts, or even an Archive section.

Even if you don't have these options, at the very least make the options to subscribe to your blog highly visible - that way people can visit/read at their leisure.

There is so much more potential for blogs to be more widely enjoyed with just some simple changes made. Funnily enough, a lot of business blogs are the worst offenders - go figure... ;-)
