I went to a psychologist to try Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and he told me to see a pyschiatrist, I may have ADD. I was told by my shrink (I like that word, it's fun) that I had a classic case of Inattentive Type ADD. See not all people have the Hyperactive part of ADHD, which I think is a common misconception, especially in regards to kids. This is how I slipped through the cracks as a child.

Now I'm being treated with medication, and it's changed my whole outlook on life. I'm much more positive, confident, outgoing, and alert, to name a few things. It's like the fog (that's literally how I felt before) has been lifted off my brain. I can think clearly and I don't forget as many things. The only problem is I can be a motormouth at times now.

Goldie, what you describe is called the ability to "hyperfocus" http://en.wikipedia.org/wik... and it's common among people with ADD/ADHD. It can be a powerful tool.

This is the best test I've found online, and it's results were pretty much spot on in my case:
http://amenclinics.com/ac/t...

You should get checked out, Chris, it's pretty easy for a psychiatrist to tell if you have it. For me, it felt great knowing finally what was going on in my head.

Re: Is This Me

If those are ADD qualities, you are lucky to have them all :-)

Re: Is This Me

Um...why are those ADD characteristics? I've never thought myself to have ADD but the list sounds like me. I can be scattered but I can get heavily into a task and then good luck getting my attention.

Re: Is This Me

Hmm, sounds like me.
