Hi Chris, thanks for the great content and ideas. Lately I have been using Zemanta more and more - I first came across Zemanta in this blog. I see that you are also continuing to use the application – a great endorsement for the company. It’s a super application that not only helps with blogging, but actually makes blogging more fun as well.

It will be a tremendous help to that particular audience, given the massive layoffs in the newspaper industry and the fact that many traditional print journalists lack the savvy and tend to associate themselves with one brand, their employers. I have been reading your blogs for a long time and never posted. You have a great blog with so much information. Unfortunately my blog is about issues that people do not like to think about. It is hard to build traffic when you cannot even get a guest poster becausre it scares people to be honest and open.

Coming from the old media world, it's hard for me to let go of my content. I wrestle emotionally with this every day...do I just let it go?

Jerry Garcia summed it up best "When we're done with it, we don't care what happens to it. If people choose to mythologize it, it certainly doesn't hurt us"

Of course, my fundemental problem is that use to actually get paid for writing the stuff that I now write for free.

Relevant, but broke, still leaves my family hungry...

Great idea, Chris. I think most bloggers agree in theory with the idea of CC, but secretly they hope nobody takes their content and does something with it.

As Cory Doctorow has said, the greatest threat facing artists online (or bloggers) is not piracy, but irrelevancy.

@Kat hehe! It was my mistake, but yeah, I think he tricked me! ;)

I grew up in a leafy suburb just west of Boston,
but have fine memories of Canada as a kid going to hockey camp, and other trips. It was gorgeous and CLEAN!
(St. Andrews, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Montreal etc)

I guess we'll keep the big ham around! :)

Makes complete sense Chris.

I send real friends here, from all walks of life,
who are new to the internet in general so they'll
get a good clean quality start, and begin with a high standard.

I also refer grizzled old business colleagues for the
same reasons.
I find it easiest to just send them here, but as my blogs blossom, I'll also reblog excerpts and link back.

Let me say it another way: some of you are from the blogging culture, but not ALL of you are. In fact, there are several people who come here who probably have never even heard of Creative Commons.

Don't forget that I write for more than the folks who know who Darren is. I write for educators, realtors, hoteliers, and lots of other people who don't know all the ways we do things.

there is the obvious 'share me-PLEASE' that has
permeated the net in Web 2.0, since the paranoia
subsided (except the greedy mainstream).

But when someone pours them self, their hours
into real quality, edifying information,
the offer is genuine.
Chris shouldn't be afraid to say it.

Perhaps he was motivated by someone saying
I was going to reblog you and have lots of obvious links
but didn't want to offend/get in trouble/ with you.

I know ProBlogger is grappling with these same contemplations right now.

A blogger's track record paves the road
for our perceptions later.
