Chris Brogan: Boarding Party

  • Bill · 10 months ago
well if someone from Harley-Davidson is going to be there it would be cool. Ok even if one of the best marketing corporations wasn't going to be thee it would still be worth going.

    Chris,

Sounds great. I especially like the plug for "actionable items". I had the pleasure of hearing/seeing you at TOC last week. Can't wait for more details (well, technically I CAN wait, but I just wanted to sound extra excited without using an exclamation point...)

Looking forward to the event Chris. I hope to be able to attend as it seems like a lot of important questions will be answered by the best in the biz. If you need a LinkedIn guy to talk about anything, you know where to find me ;)

    Thanks,

    Lewis

Chris, that announcement did rock. I can't wait to go to work in the morning to let everyone at our agency, KGBTexas, know about the event in Dallas. It's only a five-hour drive from San Antonio and well worth the drive.

I look forward to the opportunity to attend! And,.. CONGRATULATIONS on your work, your people... and for affect others and their businesses and communities so positively with your work... and your people... that is precisely what I love about the Web and social media - everything links back.

Wow! That's a seriously awesome list of speakers. Look forward to it.

I need to build http://Speaker.Grader.com. Hmmm...wonder how I might do that...

    Chris:

I am attending @izeafest in Orlando in October thanks to your notification about it and the fact that you will be speaking, but this event with the focus on "actionable" items and broader scope speaks to me, too! Time is what I really need!

Are you coming anywhere close to MSP this year with anywhere close to the same incredible cast of speakers?
  • Carol Cooper-Taylor · 10 months ago
Awesome Chris, but why so few female speakers? You can do better than this :)

Sounds like the place to be. So far as I can see it looks like you've pretty much got all of the planets perfectly aligned... save one, and that's for me (and a great judge of talent) to work out. I hope to see you in April!
  • John Easton · 10 months ago
    Chris,

I like the "actionable steps" approach. Unfortunately I will be traveling abroad part of March and all of April. Beyond folks twittering the event, will you have some formal way for those who could not attend to engage (audio transcripts, online video recaps, etc.)?

Agree with Carol's comments. Chris. I was so excited at first go through that I missed the fact that there are very few women involved. There are so many good ones - connie bensen and amber nasland jump to the top of my mind immediately.
  • Bryan Eisenberg · 10 months ago
    Sounds like a great event.
  • Deb Brown · 10 months ago
I'll wait a couple of days. Want to see what you have up your sleeve. Maybe more female speakers?
  • Pete Codella · 10 months ago
Chris - Would love to discuss inbound marketing using an online newsroom at the conference if you're still looking for presenters. I'm doing so at next month's Social Media for Communicators conference by Ragan Communications and PRSA (see http://snurl.com/a1eav).
  • chrisbrogan · 10 months ago
    @Carol and Deb -

There will be plenty more female speakers. They just haven't confirmed yet. Five more are in the queue as we speak, but have to consult their travel.

My record for females is trending between 40-60%. Will hit it for sure.

Harley-Davidson? You might have someone from Harley there? That would so be worth going for me -- I'd love to get a hold of someone there seeing as how I'm a woman and I ride my own Harley ;) Got all the gear and everything. That would be a serious iron-butt to ride across the US to get there :D Great work and I'm staying tuned for your next surprise!

Ask David Meerman Scott where he got his WORLD WIDE RAVE pin and his awesome belt (www.eymergeddon.com)
  • Tracy Johnson · 10 months ago
If you have plans to add cities to your tour, you should definitely consider Washington, DC! I made the trek up to Boston last October. It was well worth the trip, but I think a lot of more C-level executives and those hesitant to adopt inbound marketing practices would be willing to attend if the event was closer--and with all the buzz about Gov 2.0, transparency, and collaboration in the new Federal administration, I couldn't think of a better city to add to the list.

Nice job lining up speakers, Brogan!

    This thing's gonna rock.
  • stevenmilstein · 10 months ago
Chris, it's nice to see you folks branching into open source. Best of luck!
  • Brian Halligan · 10 months ago
I actually think there are a lot of marketing lessons to be learned from the open source movements. I wonder if we ought to target a pioneer in the open source community to speak at one of our events.

Another movement there is a lot to learn from is the Grateful Dead. I wonder if we could figure out a way to invite one of their early managers to talk about how they created a rave at one of the future events.
  • Becky Carroll · 10 months ago
Chris, this will be a totally rockin' event! I just heard David Meerman Scott talk about World Wide Rave last night at Bryan Elliott's event here in San Diego, and he had the room buzzing. Also excited that Brickfish, my new gig, will be there to share ideas and hear ideas. See you soon!
  • Lindsey Hill · 10 months ago
Looking forward to being a part of this one, Chris! I second Tracy on the DC show too :)
  • Suzanne Shaffer · 10 months ago
    Chris,
Sounds like a GREAT conference. Wish I could attend. Hopefully those of us who aren't able to attend hear all about it on your blog. Thanks for the great info you always provide here!

    Congrats on you "new" event!
  • Jamie Sanford · 10 months ago
Sounds like a great lineup - any chance of coming to New York?
  • Young Che · 10 months ago
Definitely see you guys when you come down South. Dallas it is.
  • Gina Kay Landis · 10 months ago
Stellar peeps to work with, to be sure, and innovation helps with event changes as well as technology - and you certainly hit that moving target often!

Would love to be at Dallas, Boston, California events, but am here in Midwest. Chicago would be North Coast, yes? =)
  • Dave Lutz · 10 months ago
Chris, congratulations on your acquisition and best of luck on all of your conferences in 2009! I work exclusively in the meeting and convention space and early indications are that 2009 is not going to be a great year for that industry. Between the government sending a message that meetings are wasteful spending and corporate America squeezing travel and marketing budgets, we all need to do a better job of communicating the value of face2face gatherings.

From your post, it sounds like you are offering a unique educational and networking opportunity. Additionally, the sponsors/vendors get to meet prospects that will certainly go through their pipeline faster than distance selling. Like many successful conferences, your event will deliver a tremendous amount of value.

Meetings and conventions are responsible for over 15% of the North America travel and hospitality industry spend (one of the largest industries in our country). There are hundred's of thousands of jobs being cut in hotels, restaurants and other related services. If you are a supporter of meetings and conventions and the value that they bring to business, please sign the petition at www.keepamericameeting.org Also, keep going to conferences and shows...grow your professional network, get smarter, research new products and grow your business. I certainly will!
