Gary's "80/20" video struck a chord with a lot of people - and yeah, he's totally on fire right now.
But there's something about being both genuine and earnest that appeals to all of us - and he's got both of those qualities in spades.
His enthusiasm is catching too.

I had the pleasure of meeting Gary this past year and man, what an animal. He has so much passion and so much drive. I'm so stoked about his latest batch of videos on his blog and look forward to seeing what else he has up his sleeve in 08.

Wow!! Gary verbalized exactly the concept that has been gurgling up in me for the last few months. In fact, it's pretty much the reason for my own "re-birth" in January.
Though it's a loose parallel, I've been explaining to friends who aren't "there" yet that the shifts happening in/with Web 2.0 is like the difference between pre- and post-Women's suffrage. The point being, I'm sure there were a whole bunch of politicians pre-Women's suffrage who were great before women could vote, but couldn't make the shift once the voter pool increased by 100%.

I am still cautiously optimistic that everything Gary says will, in fact, come to fruition. I am all for Citizen Revolution (big commie from way back) but Vested Interests are vast and mighty.
