I would add using trends as a means of expanding your reach. If a trend topic is relevant to your business, jump in and ride the wave. Also, a lot of those who don't see the value of twitter just don't get it. It is kind of like the guy/girl who graduates from high school and thinks he is more mature than those "high school kids". Well, he is but that isn't the point. Those high school kids know all they need to know about being in high school. If you want to related to them you need to learn how to speak to them, respectively.
