This provides a great way to stay on target and pat yourself on the back as you complete your goals.

29) Make sure to download the Conference App which will have the most up-to-date schedule and provide you with information about potential last minute changes. Save those sessions and functions that you don't want to miss to your personal "My Agenda" within the App or to the Calendar on your device.

30) Check with organizer if they provide any form of b2b Matchmaking or Appointment Scheduling system which makes it quick and easy to narrow down your search for "right contacts" to arrange to meet up with.

31) Prepare a couple of correspondence templates so that you quickly can personalize them, add unique discussion topics and get your thank you and follow up messages out right away after the event.

32) If the conference is held in a different country than where you reside - make sure you have necessary Travel Documents/Visas and that you have explored VAT Reclaim and Customs rules.

Re: 27 Things To Do Before a Conference

This is post is very helpful. Plus, if you are trying to convey what your business does, consider bringing some marketing materials to pass out, such as marketing flyers or postcards. If it's acceptable to bring promotional products to this type of concert, then that could also be considered.

Re: 27 Things To Do Before a Conference

very interesting post, chris brogan writes good stuff

Re: 27 Things To Do Before a Conference

this is awesome post.. thank you for the information.. i love rule number 25.. This is a great one. But it's mostly about the networking. Might I add that packing for these events can be stressful without a standard packing list? I have one that I use for conventions. During the flurry of activity before departure which inevitably includes making sure everything is squared away at home with the house, the dogs, the family (if you're leaving one), it's easy to forget really important stuff.

I also sometimes read books by the Guest of Honor prior to meeting them. And I make a list of people I'd like to interview for my blog from the paid members list if its posted.

The other thing about conventions is that you can be going, going, going all day long and forget to eat or not have time to. I bring healthy snacks to carry in my bag. The green room (if you're a visiting pro) doesn't always have the healthiest of fare and the food for regular attendees can be expensive and equally unhealthy. My packing list also includes things like motrin, bandaids, etc. Things that you may not need, but can be expensive to pick up at the con or in an airport.

Re: 27 Things To Do Before a Conference

Great post...
