Give your blog a professional start and do not monetize for the first six months – Do not monetize the blog with things like ad sense scripts. If are a tossing a banner or two, it is fine but I won’t advise you to look for money at the initial stages. In fact, it is recommended that you don’t go commercial for at least one year. Or else your readers might think that you are in the business just for making money. Also, affiliate marketing and ad sense ads can take the readers away from your blog even before they get to know your blog fully. You’d want your readers to be loyal and stay with your through thick and thin right?

I agree that to make some "mysterious atmosphere" while doing a post. Also, adding at least one picture of each post is surely eye-catching. These kinds of moves will definitely draw readers attention.

And as you mentioned, keep the post being useful to others is the key to a successful blogger. Because no one would like to read a bunch of nonsense, unless you are celebrities.

I love the post and will refer to it often as I build my own posts and community. I think #4 - having good quality content is likely the largest contributing factor to building a great community. One other question for you though, where is #9?

Don't just collect partners or followers, create communities by being a great communicator. That means sharing information, listen as hard as you speak and pass information on.

The power of that sort of network communication really showed itself during the recent flood crisis in Queensland Australia.

There were stories of people being rescued by someone they didn't know because that person had read a tweet by someone who had re tweeted it from someone else etc.

So share stories and ideas around and use the power of networking to make extraordinary things happen.
